Steven McNamara achieved some success fronting his former band 'Formes' who played at Liverpool Psych Fest and had airplay on Tom Robinson’s mixtape show on BBC6 music.

He has since moved to an expansive part of rural Lancashire which has influenced his music. His solo material, whilst still retaining elements of psychedelia, combines blues, soul and jazz with its feet firmly rooted in melancholia that could almost soundtrack the barren and open landscape he finds on his front door.

'Wake Up Lie Down' is Steven McNamara’s debut solo album and loosely details a tumultuous period in his life. Hullabaloo music blog describes Steven McNamara’s sound very aptly, “Beautifully soothing psych blues. Steven McNamara’s voice is silky soft moonlight. His guitar is a breeze. Sink into the night.”
